The God Debate

This Wednesday evening series, facilitated by Rev. Snider, will focus on
dialogue among best-selling authors Sam Harris (The
End of Faith) and Chris Hedges (I
Don't Believe in Atheists). Harris, a self-professed atheist, has
written extensively on the ways he sees religion as dangerous and
unreasonable. Hedges, a Harvard Divinity School graduate and former New York
Times journalist, writes from a Christian perspective that focuses on the
enduring value of religion. The point of this series is not in determining
who is definitively right or wrong, but rather in listening to the issues
raised on both sides and considering how they affect our lives and world.
While it's not necessary for participants to read their books, they will
serve as a helpful supplement for those who wish to do so. Sessions will
meet at 6:30 pm on the following dates:
April 30: YouTube debate between Hedges & Harris (Part I)
May 7: YouTube debate between Hedges & Harris (Part II)
May 14: On Science
May 21: On Ethics
May 28: On Images of God
